Sky Top Orchard & Lunch at Kelsey’s,

On Friday, September 17th, we will take a trip to Sky Top Orchard in Hendersonville. Never been to Sky Top before? You are in for a treat! This orchard sits atop beautiful Mt. McAlpine affording a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. If the view were all they offered it would still be worth the drive, but you’ll discover the views and fruits and vegetables are just part of the magic of the 40 acres. You will enjoy orchard ponds with ducks and geese, their “barnyard” area with sheep, goats, chicken, turkeys, peacocks and more, watch busy bees at a working beehive, a bamboo forest to explore and, of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple and fruit trees.
You can pick your own apples if you wish, enjoy hot “made-while-you-watch” cake donuts. Pick pumpkins, gourds and fall decorations if in season. Enjoy free apple and cider tastings every day!. They have a wide variety of apples, in September they will have Gala, Honeycrisp, Cortland, Macintosh, Red and Golden Delicious and many others.
After we leave Sky Top we will head to Kelsey’s for lunch, which will be at your own expense. Kelsey’s has a variety of great food in a casual atmosphere. You can choose from soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta’s, seafood, chicken and beef. Make sure you save room for their Key Lime Pie, it is fantastic.
