Survivors 500 Band...Here Comes That Song Again!
Plus Root Beer Floats
Thursday, September 9th, 2:00 PM
The “Survivors 500” by invitation will hold their weekly practice session at the Community Center Thursday, September 9th at 2:00 p.m. Our very own Charles Gidney is a member of this talented Band who are a group of musicians from Buncombe and Haywood Counties who play “country” music by ear playing fiddles, guitars, and mandolins. They have been playing together for the last 10 years and the 500 represents their total age.
They played for us in April and everyone really enjoyed their “foot stompin” music as well as the sense of humor and jokes! The program is very informal, so feel free to come and go as you please. You will be listening to a regular jam session as each player in turn decides the next song.
The majority of the players are in their 80’s and have been playing since they were 10 or 12 years old and self taught. They are always looking for new talent, so if you have an interest in talking to them about your talent please contact Charles Gidney at 633-2083.
Come out on September 9th and listen to some GREAT music! We will also be serving up some good old Root Beer & Coke Floats.
